Who? Who are you – tell us about yourself:
I am K F Ridley. Wacky, Whimsical Writer with a Wild Imagination. I have been a nurse for 28 years and am a mother of 3 daughters and grandmother of 1. Married for 27 years.
What? What did you write – tell us about your book(s):
The C. Walker Adventure Series: The Curse of Yama , is the first book in a middle grade action adventure series. If Indiana Jones came back in another life as a 12 year old girl, he would be Chloe Walker.
Chloe Walker is the daughter of a famed archeologist who falls ill after opening an ancient, mysterious book. When modern medicine cannot help her father recover, Chloe takes action and ventures into the jungles of India to find out what or who Yama is and save her father in the process.
Through her jungle adventures, Chloe befriends an orphan Indian boy named Sotol, and together they risk life and limb as they face ruthless poachers, desolate burial grounds and the fantastical wilds of nature.
I am working on the sequel "The Castle of Family Secrets." Also a work in progress: "Dirt", a young adult fantasy/romance.
When:
-When did you first realize you wanted to be an author: When I was in high school. But I didn't think I could do it (it wasn't practical).
-When did the idea for your book hit you: While homeschooling my children, I became inspired by all the things they were learning. And I was inspired to add to the world's collection of wonderful literature.
Why? Why should we choose to read your book? What’s in it for us? What are we going to get out of it:
A fun and exciting adventure, for pure entertainment. Escape into a fantastical world for a while and enjoy a great read.
Where? Where can someone who is interested get a copy of your book:
Amazon – both paperback and ebook, TreasureLine Books, and Smashwords e-book. Local bookstores are beginning to pick it up as well.
Tell me 5 things about you or your book(s) that others may not know:
1. I commit to my readers that my books will stay within the scope of the audience. The C. Walker Adventures will never turn into a Young Adult series and will remain true to middle grade.
2. I sang Classical voice for 15 years.
3. I homeschooled my now 3 grown daughters for 14 years.
4. Each book will be a different adventure. Chloe won't be trying to defeat the same thing/person in every book.
5. I have worked 2 jobs, sometimes 3, since the age of 16...and still do, although I hope to be a fulltime writer.
