Peter Bishop is a rising star in the fastest growing mega-church in the world. His unique talents bring him to the biggest stages in the country and soon to an international audience. A prophecy from a complete stranger seems to validate a position of great prominence for the young pastor, except for one thing: the closer he gets to God, the more at odds he is with the church leadership. On the edge of denominational super-stardom, Peter must choose between truth and integrity or glory and money. His decision leads him to an unconventional fellowship that draws unwanted media attention and jeopardizes his entire future.

The Who, What, When, Why, Where of Patrick Sipperly and Parting Ways
Who? Who are you – tell us about yourself
I'm a regular American guy with an active imagination, a great love for God and a twisted sense of humor! I've been a minister since about 1991 and for the past ten years or so, I've run a video production business, creating television commercials and web presentations. One of my life long desires has been to make movies. Since telling a good story is most important to me, I ventured into screenwriting in 2008 and wrote a romantic comedy called Snowed Inn. After reconnecting with a friend from high school who shared a similar desire to write, we wrote and published a book of short stories together. That project turned my focus from screenplays to novels with the hope of having them made into movies.
What? What did you write – tell us about your book
From my early teens, my singular passion in life has been to serve God and help as many people as possible make heaven their home. I've been active in ministry and felt that God has a certain direction for my life, but that direction never quite fit the cookie cutter mold of a denominational pastor. God is so much bigger than our ideas. Parting Ways is the creative culmination of life and ministry experience mixed with some humor. The story is about an ambitious young minister who is forced to choose between following God or following the denomination. It's a “4 G” story; God, Girls, Glory and Gold. My hope is to make this story the first of a trilogy.
When? – When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?
I think I'm an odd character here. I am not an avid reader at all! I've enjoyed creative writing – when I've had to do it – not because I love to write. I want to make movies but that is way too broad of a subject. Actor? Director? Producer? The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the story is what's most important to me. I dabbled in screenwriting, but that is such a restrictive style. Fiction writing is much freer.
Why? Why should we choose to read your book? What’s in it for us? What are we going to get out of it?
I hope readers will find rich, vivid characters and an out-of-the-pew story of faith. I've had more than one advanced reader start their comments with “Wow!” which is what any author loves to hear. In between a few laughs and a little steam, I hope a reader will say, “Mmmm, I didn't know that.”
